The Jewish Agency for Israel released statistics this week which showed a massive increase, 49%, in rates of Jewish immigration to Israel from France in the first nine months of 2013. The total number of arrivals is 2,185 through September, as compared to 1,907 is all of 2012. The numbers from France are part of a larger 29% surge in Aliyah by Jews from Western European countries. However, the same report showed an 8% drop in the number of Jewish immigrants from North America. "September numbers are usually predictive of the total numbers for the year," said Howard Flower, director of aliyah for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.
