Turkey, Russia: Capacity Of Pipeline To Be Increased, Official Says

Turkey and Russia have agreed in principle to increase the capacity of the Blue Stream pipeline, which transports Russian gas to Turkey via the Black Sea, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said April 21, Reuters reported. According to the agreement, Yildiz said, Blue Stream's capacity would be raised from 16 billion cubic meters per year to 19 bcmYildiz added that Ankara will hold talks with Russia on a new contract for the private sector to purchase Russian gas at what Yildiz called a reasonable price. Russia has said it will not negotiate on the price of gas.
